TerraColor® Imagery - Ocean Masked Version

TerraColor can also be purchased in an alternate version that masks ocean areas at the edges of land masses. This effectively removes clouds, ice and edges of Landsat scenes in ocean areas that may be distracting for some applications. The masked areas are filled with a uniform black background color (RGB=0,0,0) with a small 150 meter feathered edge zone between masked and un-masked land areas to soften the transition. We attempted to retain shallow water and bathymetric features in the ocean masked version (such as island reefs) where possible. Most large inland bodies of water are not masked. Users desiring natural transitions of rivermouths into ocean and other coastal features may prefer the original version.

To retain the uniform background color for masked areas, this version will only be delivered in uncompressed image formats (such as GeoTIFF) or lossless compressed image formats (such as JPEG2000). Please contact us for more information.
